I recently learned about the excellent Bay Area organization, Alluvial Arts, which is dedicated to promoting contemporary Bangladeshi art. They recently organized an exhibition at SOMarts of work by three prominent Bangadeshi artists: Kalidas Karmakar, Proshanta Karmarkar Buddha and Nagarbasi Barman. The exhibition, “Soul and Symbols of a Delta,” is one of the first exhibitions in the area to focus on recent art from Bangladesh, and curator and Alluvial Arts founder Samira Rahmatullah is to be commended for her work. Bravo!
